But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. Gal 6:14

Why read the Bible through?

Reading all of the Bible is a worthwhile endeavor because "all scripture is given by inspiration of God" and all scripture is "profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Tim. 3:16)

Because all of God's Word is God's word to us, every book, every chapter has a message worth reading and understanding. Although we may never understand all of the mysteries of God's Word, we must seek out the message, the truth of all scripture "that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works". (2 Tim. 3:17)

Suggestions for Reading the Bible

1. First of all, set aside a definite time every day to read the Bible.

2. Read the scriptures deliberately, without letting the pressure of predetermined time limits to cause you to hurry.

3. Use Bible study guides such as concordances, commentaries, Bible dictionaries and atlases.

4. Don't be disturbed is you don't understand some passages.

How to read the Bible

Reading the Bible from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22 is not the best way to read the Bible. Here are a few ways that you could go about reading the Bible.

1. Place a bookmark in the Bible at three places: Genesis, Job, and Matthew. By reading one chapter from each of these sections every day, you will read the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice in about eight months.

2. Read one Bible chapter a day and you will read the entire Bible in three years and three months.

3. Read three chapters every weekday and five chapters on Sundays, and you will read the entire Bible in less than a year.
